Worship Notes
This habit encourages youth to see connections between weekend worship and their own lives as faith matures. It's an important tool in faith formation -

Students:
  • 15 worship notes each school year
  • The green forms are at the Welcome Stations in the narthex
  • Students can ask questions on the Notes or make comments. Pastors often respond personally to those questions and comments.
  • We reward students who have met year-end goals.
Parents:
  • Please encourage your son or daughter in this weekly habit
  • Remember we'd like you to add something at the bottom of the worship note
Car Notes
6th, 7th and 8th graders will occasionally get Car Notes at the end of class. These notes connect to the topic of the day and are a great way to continue the conversation with families while riding home. It is OK to keep driving around the block or to sit on the driveway and keep talking about your Car Notes!

Small Group Lifeguides
Adults and senior high students lead 6th, 7th and 8th small groups. These guides lead discussions after the large group gathering, lead an encourage prayer in their small groups, coordinate and lead the service opportunities on Make a Difference Days, and most importantly, build strong, trusting relationships that strengthen the connections our students have with our church family. Please use the Parent Opportunity Page if you're willing to be a small group Lifeguide.

Worship Participation and Community Life
All confirmation students are asked to serve our church community by participating in our worship services and taking part in the life of the congregation. These opportunities are listed in Worship Participation and Community Life; more details available at Confirmation Kickoff.

Youth Choir
6th-9th graders are invited to join our Youth Choir, a chance for great fellowship and sharing God's gift of music. The choir rehearses before class and provides music monthly at Family of Christ worship services, plus special presenta-tions during the year with other music groups. Again this year: A weekend tour next spring!

Weather-related Cancellations
If school is closed in District 112 for weather-related reason (or if students are sent home early for those reasons), there will be no class that afternoon/evening (even it it's nice and sunny at 4:00). Call extension 55 for a recorded announcement and the latest information. We also post cancellations on our church home page.
Make a Difference Day
October 27, 2007 and
April 26, 2008

6th-9th grade small groups plan & participate in service projects on these dates. Gather at church on these Saturdays and be commissioned to serve our community and, as disciples, make a difference along the way. Small group guides provide details as the dates approach. Parent volunteers are needed with these projects and for transportation.

...Making Disciples Making a Difference
We are commissioned in our baptism to make a difference as disciples, to use the God-given gifts we are given. Students are asked to participate in the worship and community life of our congregation (see Worship Participation and Community Life). We also ask students to explore ways that they use their financial gifts as well. At the beginning of the year, we will talk about partnering with an organization providing for those in need and we will a weekly offering to donate to that cause.

Confirmation Covenant
We ask each family to consider and to sign the Confirmation Covenant which outlines our expectations for your participation in confirmation and what you in turn can expect from our confirmation ministry and staff at Family of Christ.
