Fellowship Committee Guidelines 2005

  1. Purpose of our committee:
    • Encourage socialization among our church community
    • Schedule ongoing events throughout the year
    • Promote a variety of events (i.e., family, adult and children)
    • Provide a welcoming atmosphere and community
    • Encourage involvement of new members
  2. Committee consists of church personnel as well as members of the congregation including adult and youth
  3. Committee members attend 5-6 evening meetings during the year
  4. Committee members will also communicate via e-mail to share information/ gather feedback/request help
  5. The committee responsibilities are divided among the members
  6. All committee members are responsible for helping with larger commitments and responsibilities (i.e., Family Reunion Picnic, Advent Event)
  7. Event facilitators/leaders need to complete Event Overview sheet for each activity (A binder of fellowship activities will be kept in the church office.)
When Planning an Activity:
  • Determine budget for event...Several events are self sustaining
  • Check with Lois Groen in the church office to be sure the event is placed on the "master calendar"
  • Talk with Lois Groen in regard to nursery helpers
  • Talk with Tracie Peterson regarding youth helpers
  • 4 weeks prior to the event;
    • Request 'helpers' via the Worship Folder insert
    • Encourage new members to participate
    • Assign someone to be the event Greeter/Host/Hostess
    • Create a 'blurb' for Table Talk as well as the weekend Worship
    Folders
    Deadlines:
    *Table Talk (8:00 a.m. on Monday) Contact...Mike Christopherson
    *Worship Folder (8:00 a.m. on Thursday) Contact...Mike Christopherson
  • Track details/information that is critical to the success of planning the activity for the following year
