How You Can Help

TREEHOUSE SERVICE OPPORTUNITY

On Thursday, May 31 at 5:30, FoC will provide a meal for at-risk youth who utilize TreeHouse, a Christian outreach program in Chaska. Volunteers are needed to help serve and provide the food. Take a look at the sign up sheet on the CIA bulletin board near the kitchen. We still need two servers and a fruit salad. Questions? Contact Dawn Peterson.

Summer Youth Event Volunteers

Teens and adults, FoC needs your help during summer events to be counselors, runners, and chaperones for Musical Day Camp (June 11-15), Mission Day Camp (July 9-12), and Preschool VBS (July 23-25). Sign up or get more info by emailing Andie Rydberg.

Backpack Project: Lutheran World Relief School Kits

Imagine having to choose between a meal or purchasing a notebook. School Kits are sent to places where even the few required school supplies may be more than a family can afford. Pencils and paper can help write a positive future.  You can help by picking up one of the backpacks from our Christians in Action (CIA) display, along with a simple hand-out that tells you what is needed.  Then purchase the necessary items, fill the backpack, and return to the donation bins at church sometime by the end of June.  This is a great project for a family, a couple, or an individual. The items aren’t too costly, and the backpacks are already provided.  Fill one up today, because we have a goal of providing 40 of these through the ministry of LWR.

Shared Ministry Volunteers

“Many hands make lite work…” Not to sound motherly but we could  use a lot more hands helping out in our Shared Ministry group! We have a wonderful, dedicated bunch of volunteers currently working very hard to make everyone’s weekly worship experience enjoyable. Please consider helping out in this area whether it be serving coffee (hospitality), communion, ushering or stepping up to be an Assisting Minister! If you’re interested or have questions, contact Kim Schaeferle, our Connections Coordinator.

Know Someone Who Could Benefit from a Prayer Shawl?

The Prayer Shawl Ministry makes prayer shawls for anyone in need of some warmth and comfort, or anyone having a difficult time in their lives.  Please let Melanie Wegner know if you have an idea of someone who could use a prayer shawl.  She would be happy to wrap one up and deliver it.

Want to Help Make the Prayer Shawls?

In the cold, dark nights of winter, would you like to learn how to knit or crochet? It is very comforting and satisfying to pray and serve others by making prayer shawls for people. We would love to teach you.  If you already know how or would like to learn how to crochet or knit, and would like to join us making prayer shawls, please contact Melanie Wegner or join us on Fridays at 11:15am in the church youth room.  Newcomers are always welcome!

Congregational Care

Do you love to cook? We are looking to add to our list of meal donors for families who are going through trying times. When we hear of a family that could use a meal or two, I will send out an email to the whole list, if the date works well for you, you would just respond that you’re available and I would send you their contact information.  You don’t need to commit to a certain number of meals per year; it’s very much an “if it works for you” kind of volunteer spot but one that is very much appreciated by the recipients! Contact Kim if you’re interested in helping out! Thank you!

Thrivent Choice Dollars

Thrivent Members Please consider donating your Thrivent Choice Dollars today to Family of Christ. In the past, these dollars have been used to sponsor J-Term, the summer Block Party and the Annual Meeting Luncheon. Thanks for all your support – these dollars really add up fast!
