Softball Team

Our Softball team is doing great this season, and enjoying their camaraderie and fellowship, as well as the good competition with other church teams. Their next games are on Monday, July 23 at 7:30 & 8:45 at Chaska Lion’s Park field #3.  Ellie and Scott Boros are this summer’s managers for our softball team, and you can contact Ellie.

Summer Worship Teams

Singers and instrumentalists! We hope you can join with our Summer Music Ministry by helping out, once, twice or a number of times.  Two pianists, Mary Renz and Andrea Zimmerman, will be helping lead our summer worship services and on those Sundays when we have a Worship Team, they’ll rehearse the group on that Sunday at 9:20 am.  Andrea Zimmerman will add an extra rehearsal on Fridays at 6:00 PM prior to her Sunday and Mary Renz will add an extra rehearsal on Saturdays at 9:00 AM prior to her Sunday.  Also, watch for more information about a Polka Worship on Aug. 5.  We love to welcome new and returning musicians into these joyful summer worship services. Click HERE for a full calendar of music for the summer and email Mary Renz, our Director of Music, with any questions.

JULY 25 from 6-8 pm. Come and invite your neighbors!

Like past years, we will be enjoying free ENORMOUS PIZZAS AND GIGANTIC FRESH BAKED COOKIES. The Tuxedo Band will play for us, the kids can enjoy jumpy-houses, or lawn games, face-painting, and more. Plus, the Memorial Blood Center (Sponsor code 4049) will be here with their truck, giving you an opportunity to make a life-giving blood donation.

New this year is an ART FAIR where you can see some of the arts and crafts that members and friends of FOC will put on display. Also, new this year is four portable holes for Frisbee golf, plus we hope to have the new playset up and ready to go.

Plan to join us as we help make Family of Christ the fun place to be!

(Event will be held, rain or shine. Funds are being provided through a Thrivent grant and also through donated Thrivent Choice Dollars.)

Block Party Art Fair

This year’s block party will feature an art gallery. If you are an artist and have 2-3 pieces that you would like to display on July 25, let me know. All types of art are appreciated but it would be a bonus you have something with a faith focus. Email andie@familyofchristonline.com to sign up.

Learn More About Immigration Issues

See a display that has been put together by FOC member Alysson Gebauer as she has been learning more about an ELCA ministry called “Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services” (LIRS). She has a petition sign-up which LIRS is sponsoring, but she’s also looking to gather others who may share concerns around the issue of immigration and refugees. Do connect with her if you’d like to be part of a group to be in prayer and action on these issues.

Hey High School/College Aged Students: We have an opportunity for you!

Come join us for “Hangin’ with Jesus,” a fun hammock Bible study and hangout at Lake Ann on Sundays July 22nd, July 29th, August 12th, and August 19th from 4pm-6pm. (Follow the signs once you enter the park) There will be light snacks and some hammocks provided (or bring your own!) No experience with bible study (or hammocking) necessary. We will be exploring the heart of Jesus and what it really means to be a Christian in today’s world. If you have questions, please our FoC summer interns Tali Tripp and Danielle Wegner.

It's Hip to be Square

The FoC Quilting Ministry makes quilts for Lutheran World Relief and various Veterans programs.  Meetings are for tying quilts only.  No sewing is required, but help is always welcomed and appreciated. Join the fun for a couple of hours every other Friday afternoon, starting at 1 PM (the quilters take December off).  Oh, and there are other ways to help such as sewing squares together at home, sharpening scissors, or delivering quilts to the LWR warehouse twice a year.  For further information, contact Lynne Merrick at 952-937-8014.

Altar Flowers

A gift of flowers for Sunday worship is a lovely and meaningful way to remember a loved one, a special occasion, or a blessing received. For a very affordable $20, we will create a beautiful fresh arrangement to adorn the altar, which you may take home after Sunday worship, if you’d like. Sign up on the flower chart on the kiosk for the date(s) on which you’d like to provide flowers. Please make your check payable to “Family of Christ,” write “flowers” on the memo line, and leave the check in Marilyn Syverson’s mailbox in the church office.
